Hot Spicy Carob (with a hint of vanilla)


  • 1-2 TBS Carob powder*
  • 1 cup Almond milk (or other plant-based milk**) plus 1/2 cup extra to froth
  • 1 tsp Vanilla powder/ 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon powder/1-2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-2 Cardamom seeds (break open a pod)
  • dash of Cayenne pepper
  • 1-2 tsp Honey/maple syrup


  1. Place all ingredients in a pot and heat gently, over a low heat, stirring until powder has dissolved 
  2. Let it simmer for a few minutes to allow all the flavours to infuse (do not allow it to reach boiling point as it could burn)
  3. Turn off heat and strain into a mug to remove seeds and sticks
  4. Warm extra 1/2 cup of milk in pot and place in milk frother. Alternatively, skip this step and place strained hot carob drink in a blender to froth
  5. Sprinkle with carob powder and enjoy!


*I used Mary Ann’s Malted Carob powder, but normal carob powder works too

**I have found that almond milk froths up the best 

For a truly creamy and indulgent hot drink, add whipped coconut cream instead of frothed milk 



Delicious served with a chocolaty treat such as these raw “Snicker Bars”
